What is lymphatic drainage?

Lymphatic drainage massage is a specialised form of medical massage that enhances the flow of lymph fluid. Through gentle manipulation, it creates space for fluid to move to less congested regions, facilitating a more balanced distribution.

This treatment helps eliminate toxins and stimulates blood circulation, and tissue regeneration.

You should consider lymphatic drainage treatment if you’re experiencing:

  • lymphedema
  • buildup of lymphatic fluid in specific areas of the body
  • swelling
  • water retention

What are the benefits of lymphatic drainage?

Almost anyone can benefit from the detoxifying effects of lymphatic drainage massage. Here are some of the benefits you may experience after this treatments:

  • sped-up recovery with improved results after liposuction, blerophasty, face lifts, tummy tucks and other surgeries
  • reduced post-surgical swelling and scarring
  • sinusitis relief
  • acne recovery
  • stronger immune system
  • joint and arthritis inflammation reduction
  • reduced chronic fatigue syndrome symptoms
  • eased irritable bowel syndrome symptoms
  • constipation relief
  • reduced appearance of cellulite
  • toned and tightened skin
  • psoriasis improvement
  • eczema healing
  • reduced pressure on the veins assists with treating varicose veins

To get the best results from your lymphatic drainage massage, we recommend you to follow 4 simple steps prior your appointment:

    • don’t take ibuprofen and other blood thinner medications one week before the treatment to reduce the risk of bruising
    • wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment to avoid impeding natural lymph flow
    • drink plenty of water to encourage lymph flow
    • eat something light

We will ask you to lie on your back if you don’t have lymphedema in your head or neck, or sit up if you do. The massage starts with breathing exercises to prepare the lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes for the treatment.

Our experienced therapist will use light movements to massage the lymph nodes and areas that are not swollen to create space for the lymph to drain to. Then she will  move to blocked lymph nodes, stretching the skin in the direction of healthy lymph nodes and toward the heart.

After your treatment, we recommend you to move your body for 10 to 15 minutes to make sure the detoxification process goes smoothly. Nothing intense is required, but a walk or a low-key yoga will be enough to improve the post-treatment results.

Once you finished up to 15 minutes of gentle exercise, it is recommended relaxing and resting for the remainder of the day.

You might feel a bit tired after your massage because getting the toxins out of your body can take a bit of a toll at first. But it won’t last long and you should feel amazing on the next day.

If you experience any unpleasant symptoms, please call us.

Had a treatment with Sarah and it was the most lovely treatment I’ve had in a long time. Sarah is professional and informative, but equally calm, caring, and personable. Can’t wait to go back!

I always love going to Wonder to have my hair cut by Max. The team are beautiful and I always feel so well looked after. Today, I met Claudia who worked on my skin - INCREDIBLE! I’ve been experiencing red, inflamed and sore breakouts. I didn’t have to say a word, Claudia knew exactly what I needed and I can already see an improvement. Thank you to Adie and the Wonder team. I feel brand new!

I've just finished my body countour treatment with Truflex and Indiba and couldn't be any happier with the results. Not only my tummy and legs are firmer, but also slimmer and better shaped. I extremely enjoyed the sessions. Claudia is an outstanding professional who adapted each session and designed a specific protocol to my specific needs. Highly recommended!

Wonder is exactly what it's name says... a WONDER! I personally always go for the amazing treatments—incredible massages, infrared sauna and getting my eyebrows + lashes done to perfection! As a professional wedding photographer, I always recommend Wonder to my brides, not just for its treatments but also for the talented makeup done by Claudia. I've worked with her numerous times over the last year at weddings and couldn't recommend her enough to my brides! Unequivocally my makeup artist of choice!

I heard of Wonder’s physio, Saila, through a friend. I have scoliosis and I’ve always had back issues. I’m also a breastfeeding mum in postpartum. Saila is a thorough practitioner and the best physiotherapist I’ve ever come across. Not only she is very knowledgeable and empathetic but also very effective with her time. Since the minute you go in, she’s constantly working her magic. She alleviates my yawn issues (bruxism) and releases horrible neck, back and shoulder pain and all while providing advice on hypopressive excercises! I’ve been treated by Saila four times now and I’m glad I have found her. Thank you!
